Students4H2O

Students4H2O was established in Martin County with the mission to enhance education, stewardship and citizenship within the community, beginning with elementary, middle, and high school students. This student-run organization believes every individual matters and a sustainable community will in turn lead to a sustainable planet. Through the collaboration of Keep Martin Beautiful, Students4H2O is able to reach a wider range of local students, volunteers and contributors to become global citizens. PLASTIC BAG INITIATIVE

Plastic bags are used everywhere, but most harmful for the environment. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection states that plastic bags "can harm land and marine life, interfere with landfill operations, clog flood control systems and breed mosquitoes."

Additionally, sea turtles often mistake plastic bags for jellyfish, which is one of their food sources. Click here to learn more about the way Students4H2O is working to decrease the amount of plastic bags in Martin County.

GLOBAL GOALS

In September 2015, 193 world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. If these Goals are completed, it would mean an end to extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by 2030. Students4H2O believe that everyone on the planet should have access to clean water and sanitation. Click here to learn more.
