Adopt-A-Shore/Island

Martin County enjoys a beautiful coastline and the shorelines of the Indian River Lagoon and the St. Lucie River. Too many of our natural shorelines are being littered and polluted by people who enjoy our beaches and waterways. Not only does litter harm our environment, but it can be a threat to marine life if animals become entangled in or consume the debris. By raising the public awareness of litter and it's effects, Adopt-A-Shore teams help stop the cause of litter.

Adopt-A-Shore is a public/private partnership designed to motivate and educate the community about the problems associated with marine debris and to provide the best volunteer litter removal program for Martin County shorelines.

Keep Martin Beautiful encourages your group, business, club, or community association to take positive action on behalf of the environment by adopting a shoreline and making a commitment to remove litter from the site at least once a quarter. A shoreline means any beach, creek, lake, pond, river, or estuary accessible to the public. To honor your commitment, KMB provides recognition and support for your efforts.

Clean shorelines make safe, clean habitat for Florida wildlife; and beautiful beaches for residents and visitors to enjoy.
